I'm getting started on some new work. I'm starting to create 2 small pieces that will be
8.5"x 11" when finished. They are for a new FAN show called From a Tiny Seed, they will be for a trunk show that will travel around to guilds who would be interested in showing it to their members. The pieces will be for sale but will have to travel for 2 years first. They are due on March 31, 2018.
My initial thoughts about 'what?' to create for this show have been sketches in my sketchbook. I've gone back to some drawings that I did for the last piece I did, "Dying to Eat". That was such a fun concept to work on, Food. The choices we make about eating was a diverse conversation, there were many angles and sketches that I still want to pursue. But for these pieces it's such a small image area that I wonder if the ideas will translate? I also have wanted to keep pursuing work with an underwater theme. Friends recently came back from Indonesia scuba diving and shared their photos, they really have inspired me to return to that subject. I played around with some fabrics and have decided to start. Start something. As any artist knows, it's the hardest part. I've sewn two pieces of fabric together for a background and free motioned the water. I also cut up some fabric motifs and massaged them around a bit. This looks bright and fun and starting from nothing seems to fit the theme. Let's see what grows!
